How to import a PDF from Files into Ponte
Keep the first import simple: use a short PDF you can already open in Files, then check that Ponte sees the right document.
Save the file where you can find it
In the app containing your document, open its share menu and choose Save to Files when available. Pick a recognizable folder and filename. If the PDF is in iCloud Drive, download it before trying to work offline.
Import it in Ponte
Open Ponte and choose its PDF import control. In the Files picker, browse to the folder you chose and select the PDF. If you have several similar files, use the filename and the source preview to confirm the right one arrived.
Choose what you want to do
Restore creates readable, flowing text on your device for free. Cloud Translate is optional: select your languages and pages, check the credit spend limit and confirm the cloud-processing disclosure before starting.
If import does not work
First check that the file opens in Files and is actually a PDF. Download cloud-hosted files fully. A password-protected document needs its correct password. A damaged or incomplete download may need to be saved again from its original source.
Keep the original
The source page remains useful for tables, illustrations and precise layout. Check the restored or translated text against it whenever wording or formatting matters. For your first attempt, our small sample PDF gives you a known document to practice with.
Free download, Restore and on-device reading. Cloud Translate and Explain use paid credits. iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 or later. Availability varies by storefront.
