What is free in Ponte, and what uses credits?
You can use Ponte as a PDF reader without buying credits. Credits are for Cloud Translate and Explain when you choose to use those services.

A sample translation is already prepared
The included English and French examples let you try the reading and comparison features without spending credits. They are prepared examples, not a free live translation of a newly imported document.
Choose a pack when you need one
Ponte offers 20, 100, 500 and 1,500-credit packs. The Mini pack is £1.99 in the UK App Store; your local price is shown in the app. There is no subscription. Review the spend limit for a translation before you begin. The limit is the maximum for that request, not a guarantee of a fixed number of pages per pack.
Where the work happens
Importing, Restore and reading happen on your device. Cloud Translate and Explain send the required text through Ponte’s service to Anthropic. Document content is not written to application logs. The privacy policy explains processing and retention.
Credits stay with this device
Credits are consumable and linked to this device’s anonymous account. They do not transfer to a replacement device or restore through your Apple ID. Keep that in mind when deciding how much to buy.

Use a bundled sample or import a short PDF. Try Restore, adjust the text and compare it with the original. Buy credits only when you want to use cloud translation or an explanation.
